I use the Steel Series Sensei - it uses the onboard profiles you mentioned and you can custom set your CPI up to something like 11000. I play Dust with it set to about 3000; higher than that seems a tiny bit faster, but also tends to jitter.
If I recall the mouse is like $80, which isn't bad for a gaming mouse. The buttons press a little easy for me but that's a personal gripe, overall it's the best mouse I've used (then again, all my other mice were Logitech so I can't compare to another gaming mouse).
As others mentioned though, the game does either cap or attenuate turn speed - it still takes me like 3 seconds to turn around, so it's not quite like a PC FPS. |

Holy crap, I've been trying for DAYS to figure out what was causing my mouse to lock out. I was starting to wonder if one of the USB ports on my PS3 was damaged!
Sadly, I've not found a solution other than yours of resetting the mouse. You mentioned setting macros or disabling the buttons; have you tried making 6 and 7 into clones of 4 and 5? I'll try that and see if it works, or if I find another solution I'll let you know.
Talaryes wrote: The second thing is I've set a pretty high CPI for the mouse, but yet I see no difference in the turning speed. I suppose this is hard capped by the game? Just wondering if you'd felt a difference.
I use 1850 CPI on my computer, and the profile I use for Dust is set to 2950. With the CPI there, it's definitely faster than it is using my desktop profile, though still slower than I'd like. Even with the CPI increase, my cursor moves slower in Dust than on my PC. I have the secondary CPI option set to 5950, and it's a *little* bit faster, but still quite slow, and the response is kinda choppy. So increasing CPI does help, but only to a point. I'm not sure if turn speed is technically capped or if the game just attenuates it more and more as it increases (I actually started a thread asking about this but it has disappeared into the bowels of the forum). Either way, the TL;DR is that raising your CPI helps, but you're still not gonna get PC FPS response by any stretch.

Yeah, I kinda screw myself over there. I'm used to having acceleration and stuff too, so when I need to spin I have the PC-born habit of flinging my mouse a few inches to the side before lifting and resetting it. On the PS3, all that does is make me turn around a little at a time with lots of little stops on the way... |
